Tuscaloosa is the central location in the western part of Alabama when it comes to industry, commerce, healthcare, and education. While Tuscaloosa is only to fifth largest city in Alabama, most of the growth results from being the home of the University of Alabama.

Tuscaloosa is also known as a great recreational city. Lake Tuscaloosa is a 5,855 acre reservoir lake created by damming off the North River in’70. It was created as a means of providing water for the residents and the industry in an around Tuscaloosa.

Before the creation of the new reservoir, the region used Lake Nicol and Harris Lake as the regions water source for both residential and industrial purposes. Presently, Harris Lake only serves industrial needs and Lake Nicol is used primarily as a backup water supply.

Lake Tuscaloosa serves as a source for recreation to locals and visitors. The lake is used for boating, fishing, and water sports. These activities have led to the construction of lake homes and communities to provide seasonal and primary homes.

There are 177 miles of shoreline that meanders around Lake Tuscaloosa. Black Water River Basin has become a hot spot for fishermen. The lake has many species of fish including Alabama spotted bass, largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, and white crappie.

Legacy Point is a 55 acre private community that offers six Craftsmen inspired three or four bedroom homes with stone and cedar shingle exteriors, large porches and decks that provide great lake views. These homes have between 1,800 to 3,600 square feet and are priced around $450,000 and up. Lake view or lakefront home sites are priced from $180,000 to $270,000.

The community only has 55 home sites and once they have been sold, they will only be available through the resale market. All residents of the community have a boat slips to store their boat.
